To live a healthy life, you need to take into account both the mental and physical aspects of being healthy. Being physically healthy is important because you need to make sure you are in shape.

You need to make sure that you are putting the right amount of nutrients into your body and be fit. This would include exercising as well as having a balanced diet.

In terms of the mental aspects of being healthy, you need to make sure you have a positive mindset and that you are not stressing yourself out.

Your mental health is equally as important as your physical health.

For example, to improve my mental health I have reduced the time I spend on social media and try to find ways to enjoy myself. In this blog post, I will discuss all the methods you should do if you want to live a healthy life.

These are the points that I am going to cover:

  • Move around every 30 minutes
  • Have a meal plan
  • Drink at least 2 litres of water every day
  • Go outside more
  • Have at least 7 to 8 hours of quality sleep
  • Meditate
  • Smile more
  • Make a to-do list
  • Wake up earlier
  • Read everyday

Move around every 30 minutes

This reduces the harms of sedentary behaviour. Sitting down all day and increased periods of inactivity links to a higher risk of death.

Studies have shown people who are inactive for 13.2 hours a day, have a risk of death that is 2.6 times more than those spending less than 11.5 hours a day inactive.

Therefore, don’t just sit around all day watching TV, move around every half an hour and keep yourself active. For example, do some physical activity such as running.

Have a meal plan

Having a meal plan improves your nutrition. This is because you can aim to have well-balanced meals when you plan.

You can, therefore, take control of what nutrition you need in your body and make healthier choices.

Homemade meals are healthier and more nutritious than takeouts and ready-made meals because they have less salt, fats and calories.

Having a meal plan decreases your stress because you would not be asking yourself “what am I going to eat” anymore.

Drink at least 2 hours of water every day

Water stops headaches and dizziness as these could be symptoms of dehydration. Therefore, the next time you feel dizzy or have a headache, try drinking some water.

Water also clears your skin because it gets rid of toxins, bacteria and dirt on your skin. It gives more moisture if you have dry skin as well.

As about 75% of your muscles are water, 22% of your bones are water and 83% of your blood is water, so water also boosts your energy.

Dehydration can cause your body to be working not as well as it could, leading to tiredness and lack of energy.

Go outside more

This can relieve your stress from school and work.

Relieving stress is important because it can affect the immune system and our mindset. When you are outside and spending your time with nature reduces the bloodstream levels of the stress hormone, cortisol.

Going outside strengthens your immune system because our immune system works at its best when they are challenged regularly. This does not occur when we are indoors.

Sleep more

This can improve your concentration and productivity.

Studies have shown that having a good amount of sleep improves your memory and problem-solving skills.

If you do not get a sufficient amount of sleep then there is a higher risk of having a stroke and a heart disease. This is why it is said that you should have at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep.

Lack of sleep can also lead to depression. Studies have shown that approximately 90% of people who suffer from depression complain about their lack of sleep.

Mediate frequently

There are many benefits to meditating. It:

  • Reduces stress
  • Controls anxiety and anxiety-related mental health issues such as social anxiety and phobias
  • Promotes emotional health
  • Enhances self-awareness
  • Increases attention lifespan
  • Can increase positive feelings, such as kindness, towards others and yourself
  • Improves your sleep quality
  • Can reduce blood pressure
  • Can help you fight addictions

Smile often

Smiling makes us more attractive. This is because we are naturally attracted to those who smile, as it creates positive energy.

It also relieves stress so the next time you feel stressed, try to pull a smile to reduce the stress. Smiling elevates your mood, so in other words, it makes you happier.

It improves your immune system because you are more relaxed. When you smile, more white blood cells are released.

The main function of the white blood cell is to protect the body from pathogens that could cause harm to the body. Therefore, smiling improves your health.

Make a to-do list

  • It makes you feel good about yourself for completing the task and makes you motivated
  • It helps you achieve big goals because you will be more focused.
  • It saves you time

Read every day

Reading widens your vocabulary because you are exposed to more words. This could help you become more articulate and well-spoken, making you sound more professional.

Therefore, it could boost your confidence and self-esteem. Through this same idea, reading can also help you learn another language.

Reading is good for mental stimulation. Studies have proven that mental stimulation can prevent dementia because reading keeps your brain active.

Reading increases your knowledge because you are given the information you may not have known before, making you more knowledgeable.

Another benefit to living a healthy lifestyle is that you become more successful in life.
