How to be successful in life

Anyone can be successful. If you work hard and follow these tips that I give you, you will be successful. Being successful doesn’t just mean being successful financially, but also in other elements such as emotionally. You can be financially successful but if you are not happy or successful emotionally, then you are not living a successful life.

Do what you love & enjoy

When you do something that you love and passionate about, you will be motivated to do more and work hard. Through your hard work, you will succeed.

For instance, many successful musicians have spent years of their lives performing unpaid because they love what they are doing.

The job that you are doing shouldn’t only be a source of income, but it should be something that you love to do and wouldn’t mind doing even if you were unpaid.

Adding onto this, by doing something you love, you will become more productive as you will be more interested, inspired, and motivated.

Do not be afraid of failure

Just like in academics, when you make a mistake in maths for your mocks, you learn from your mistakes so that you won’t make the same mistake again in your real exams.

Exactly like this, when you make mistakes in work or your business that you are trying to grow, you can learn them so that you will not make the same mistakes again.

Through failure, you learn what is going well and what isn’t going well, and, therefore, you will become more knowledgeable.

Be a person of action

Dreaming about you being successful is not enough to live a successful life. You need to take action and do something if you want to be successful.

For example, if you want to make a change in society or advocate against a social issue, then you have to do something such as expressing your opinions on social media for people to watch and listen.

If you want your business to succeed or be successful, you need to know that to achieve and gain the success you need to work hard.

If you are not willing to work hard, then your chances of success get slimmer and slimmer.

Believe in your capacity to succeed

Believing in yourself is an important element that you need if you want to be successful. If you do not believe in yourself, then you will have low self-esteem.

This can cause you to find it harder to achieve your goals because you may not have the determination or motivation to achieve it.

A lack of belief in yourself makes it even more difficult to deal with those tough times, especially when you experience failure. This is because you would lose faith in yourself and probably, give up.

Maintain a positive mental attitude

Maintaining a positive mental attitude is beneficial for your mental and physical health.

Having a positive attitude mental attitude can relieve your stress and can decrease the risk of depression.

It can boost your immune system and lower the risk of having a heart attack.

A positive mental attitude leads to you becoming more focused, which is an important asset needed if you want to be successful in life.

Eliminate toxic people from your life

Toxic friends will only limit your success. This how you know you may have toxic friends if:

  • They lose their temper and take out your energy.
  • They show no compassion or empathy.
  • They are dishonest and lie to you.
  • They are manipulative and will exploit you.
  • They are deliberately hurtful.
  • They play the victim all the time.
  • They have a negative mindset.
  • They criticize you far too often.

People who do these things to you are not worth your friendship. They are not worth your time especially if you want to succeed in life.

Instead, you should surround yourself with people who inspire you, motivate you, and have a positive mindset.

These types of people will help you and encourage being the best person you can be.

Make a list of goals you want to achieve

Creating a list of goals you want to achieve helps you become more focused because you know what you want to achieve. Therefore, it prevents you from getting distracted and stops you from wasting your time.

For example, having a list of goals you want to achieve could prevent you from wasting a lot of valuable time watching Netflix, YouTube, or using social media. This is because we tend to use these social networking sites when we are bored and don’t have anything to do.

Manage your finances

Have a budget. Budgeting your money will help you save your money and can help you pay off your debt.

Although budgeting may seem quite hard and tiring, it will benefit you in the future. You will know how much money you should spend on groceries, which, therefore, prevents you from overspending.

To budget successfully, you need to understand your expenses (knowing how much money you spend per month). Another point is that you should track your spending.

You should know how much money you spend on things such as clothing. If you know you spend too much money on clothing, for example, then it allows you to cut your spending (by buying more discounted clothes) and save money.

Limiting your credit card purchases is very important because it can be your worst enemy.

You use only use your credit card if you know that you can afford to pay the money back. You are spending the bank’s money not yours, so after spending their money you are expected to pay them back.

If you do not pay them back within a certain amount of days such as 30 days, the bank will add on interest, meaning that you are paying more money back to the bank.

For example, if you are meant to pay £100 back to the bank and after thirty days the bank has put the interest of 20%, then that means you are now paying the bank £120.

This is £20 more than the original money you are meant to pay back. It will continue to increase and increase if you still do not pay them back.

Therefore, I am telling you to resist the urge of using your credit card, and this is especially prominent on items you do not need such as luxury items.

You should save at least 10% of the income you earn. That’s all I’m going to say because if you do this, you will thank me later.

Manage your time

One thing that everyone in the world has the same is time.

We all have 24 hours. In those 24 hours that we have, we must use it wisely.

What you do in those 24 hours may change us for the better or worse.

If you spend your 24 hours lying bed, on your phone, going social media, watching movies and series, you are not managing your time appropriately. You are wasting your time.

I’m not saying that you should not do all these things, but if you are doing this for the whole day, you need to make a change.

While you are watching actors and actresses acting in movies and YouTubers on YouTube, they are making a living for themselves. Don’t you want that too?

I’m sure you do, but if you want to live a successful life, you have to manage your time and use it effectively.

And I know you can do it.

Enjoy the present moment

Do not dwell in the past. Whatever happens in the past stays in the past.

What I mean by that statement is that as long as you learn the mistakes you have made in the past and you have changed since then, you shouldn’t dwell on it.

We can only focus on what is happening now, so whatever we do now is going to impact us in the future.

Look after your health

Looking after your health is very important, but it is just about eating healthily.

Although eating healthily is an important element to looking after your health, you should also recognise the mental aspects of looking after your health as well.

You need to reduce your stress and avoid working overstressing yourself, by working too hard.

It is one thing to work hard but it is another to work too hard that it could be affecting your sleep patterns and the amount of sleep you get per night.

Therefore one way that I advise you to do is to just walk around every 30 minutes to ease and relax your brain.

Another method is to meditate from time to time or try starting yoga.

Yoga has benefitted me in many ways such as making me feel more relaxed and I am sure it will help you as well.

Another method that helps is to just chat with a friend from time to time which can relieve your stress.
